Poupette!

The Château d'Oupia in the Minervois is releasing a special bottling, in conjunction with our company, of 100-year-old Carrignan from one of their best sites. Only 97 cases of this exceptional wine will be available in this country, sometime after December 14th.

The wine is called Hommage à Poupette. Poupette was Marie-Thérèse Iché's beloved French poodle, who died two years ago after a 17-year residence at the Château. We at Louis/Dressner were always very fond of Poupette, although my dog Buster and Poupette never got along. Poupette was proprietary, chez elle and resented Buster's presence on her turf during our visits to the Minervois.

Poupette was quickly replaced by Caline, also a French poodle. Caline is even more frisky than Poupette (whom I was privileged to meet in her youth many years ago) and avoids Buster like the plague.

This is an exceptional wine from the 2004 vintage that is not to be missed. These old vines produce a wine of great character and in this age of standardization it is a true pleasure to go back a century.

All the internet is abuzz about your conversion to methodism. What made you do it?

Text messages beat overbilling. Every kid sends text messages. You've got to calm down. Grab a hold of yourself. Stop trying to micromanage your daughter's freshman year in college. There is light at the end of the tunnel....she will be a sophmore next year.

I discussed with my son last night. He is a sophmore and he was reminiscing about his freshman year. He explained that the goal of the freshman year is to get smashed as often as possible, to spend as much of the parents money as possible, and to avoid as much contact as possible with the parents. He explained that there is nothing more intrusive than parents who prevent a freshman from getting smashed as often as possible and spending as much of their parents' money as possible.

Accept it and move on.

So, I'm just curious which dog André was pictured with in a picture which I wish I could show here (even though I know you have seen it), but this little text box won't allow me to. But it is a picture that was all over the internet, and it wasn't Poupette, and wasn't even close to being poodlish.
