Holy Cow! Everyone here in Wittenheim was sad to learn about the death of Phil Rizutto. All of Alsace will miss The Scooter.
thats all you got to say after 12 days of no blogging....common man!!
Yes.
Did you know that Whitey Ford was half Alsatian?
His mother was from Kingersheim.
Mighty Whitey, lefty loosey!!!
is it sad that i first encountered Phil on television, representing "The Money Store", waving dollar bills in the general direction of my then 8 year old face in a pitch that, even then, smacked to me of bad judgement in hard times, for the buyer as well as the hawker. it is. i'll chalk it up to a moment of weakness in a difficult moment for aging great. but it does illustrate nicely the degree to which money is a tory word. i like to think that wine, at bottom, isn't. thanks, joe.
