Que Choisir Article on Jean-Paul Brun's Beaujolais

Que Choisir, the French equivalent of Consumers Report, has a good article on the INAO's scandalouis treatment of Jean-Paul Brun. It is in French, so please brush-up on that language before clicking below:

Although I am too busy a guy to translate the article, which would also constitute copyright infrinigement, I have sent the site through Babelfish, a site which does 100% accurate translations. So readers who only understand English can check the article below:

In other late breaking news, it appears that American consumers will be able to buy this wine in the coming weeks. Currently, we only have stock of the first batch of Beaujolais which was approved. But in a few weeks we will have a Vin de Table called L'Ancien de Jean-Paul Brun, which will be the banned Beaujolais.

My French is not too great, but it was more understandable to read the article in French than to read the translation. Doesn't say a lot for Internet translation sites.

The strange thing is that if you take the translated article, that is the English text, and put it back in Babelfish and request a French translation, the final text is 99% correct!

Now that is funny. It wasn't really an independent article, just a summary of Asimov and Dressner.

The author's apparent invention of the adjective "ubuesque," to compare the AOC's inanities to the "theater of the absurd" was a delicious and original moment. (I didn't check to see how, or if, that was translated by Babelfish). On a recent trip to France we specifically asked in wine stores for biodynamic "vins de table," knowing they would be bargains, and we had many great bottles, some from producers whose entire production is routinely denied the appelation on the basis of them "including the wrong grape" or some other perceived infringement on the AOC's stodgy conception of the local terroir. The AOC has now moved from shooting themselves in the foot, to shooting themselves in the stomach.
