La Tesnière Pineau d'Aunis 2001
We heard from Thirery Puzelat that he has been able to secure a nice allocation of 2001 Pineau d'Aunis from the famous La Tesnière vineyard in the Touraine. While the harvest has not been a joyous one, Thierry is delighted with the quality of the fruit he bought from this biodynamic vineyard.
A lot of people think all this talk of biodynamie, organic farming, working the vineyeards, etc., is all nonsense.
It is in years like 2001 where one sees the advantage -- that well treated vineyards produce better fruit in difficult climatic conditions. This is not a rule, but an observation.
Cosmocultural Beaujolais?
Beaujolais cult winemaker Jean-Paul Brun was seen in Paris this week with Philippe Viret of the Cosmoculturist Domaine Viret.
Could something be brewing in Charnay-en-Beaujolais?
Speaking of Charnay....if you are drinking the Seguret from internet cult winemaker Eric Texier these days....cool it down a bit before drinking. It will show wonderfully.

Wine Conference in Peru
Denyse and I will be attending the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of Americas (WSWA) conference in Lima, Peru starting on November 17th. We will be hosting a hospitality suite in Room 528 of the Lima Hilton.
In addition to showcasing our French and Portugese selections for the Peruvian trade at the WSWA, we are also in negotiations to launch a global partnership with Tacama Wines, the premier wine producer of Peru. As one leading critic wrote of this winery: "they use only the best ingredients and following the rigid rules that the wine industry dictates with regard to this process."
Since the entire trip is tax-deductible, we will end our stay in Peru by touring the great sites of Incan civilization. Here, we need our reader's help. Please e-mail us if you have any hotel, restaurant or touring tips.
Cult, Garage Champagne
My partner Kevin McKenna has written a great article on our firm's new champagne house. The article is so good that Kevin doesn't have to use a picture of Buster. That's my literary trick when I have nothing to say. I just pop in a picture of my dog. This pleases my readership a great deal.
Anyhow, our new Champagne house is not even a house. It is a garage. Make sure to read Kevin's article. Now. Stop whatever you are doing and click here to go to the Louis/Dressner Selections Website and read about David Leclapart. Forgive the typos, which will be cleaned-up on Monday. So Click Now.
Meet Joe Dressner, The Wine Importer, at Benefit Wine Tasting this Friday at Chambers Street Wines
Apparently no one will throw a strike to Barry Bonds and as of Thursday night at 9:00 pm he had yet to hit his 70th home run of the season.
Chambers Street Wines in downtown Manhattan is holding a benefit wine tasting to aid Barry Bonds in his effort to beat Sammy Sosa's record of 71 home runs in one season. Come on down and show your support.
I will be signing baseballs and tasting all the latest Pineau d'Aunis bottlings that have recently arrived in this country. Chambers Street Wines is located at 160 Chambers Street.
3 Strange Things About Detroit
I just got back from 2 and 1/2 weeks in Detroit.
Some odd things about the town:
1. No one talks about the World Trade Center.
2. Everyone thinks business is good and has confidence in the economy.
3. There has been a media blackout concerning the Cuvée Buster.
4. Many restaurants put figs on top of their pizza.
5. Elie Boudt is a great wine merchant, fabulously gracious, and a helluva of a guy!
