Today is a Jour Férié in France! It has something to do with Easter and it is part of the preparation for the big May Jours Fériés Festival. France has many off days in May. Please don't ask us to get prices, details about wines or to arrange shipments. Highlights include: May 1 is Labor Day, May 8th is Victory in World War II, May 25th is Ascencion (something to do with Jesus Christ). May 1st is a Monday, the 8th is a Monday and Ascencion (which has something to do with Jesus Christ) is on a Thursday. Being on a Thursday, this is a pretext for everyone to close down on Friday and have a four day weekend. This leads to Pentecôte, which is early in June and also falls on a Monday. That holiday commemorates something to do with The Holy Ghost. Happy Holidays! |
